"Yep! You smarty beak!" He laughed as she tapped on it. "Yes, it makes sound because," he nudged it off the ridge on onto the rocks (where his nest was located) below. CRACK! The furry sphere opened and a white liquid began to leak out. "It's hollow."

Mia alighted from the coconut as Guin began to roll it. She watched in interest as it fell and cracked open to reveal a sweet smelling juice the inside. "Wow!" She exclaimed. Mia landed down below and eyed the liquid. "Is it drinkable?" she inquired.

Guin watched her glee in satisfaction. He liked to make other birds happy. "Of course! It's not too sweet, but it sure tatses good!" He waddled to the edge and slid down the red clay ridge. He slid towards the cracked nut and tapped his beak In the liquid.

Mia joined him drinking it cautiously at first. She sat back and thought about it. "That's delicious." She chirped drinking more. "I can't wait to show you honeysuckles." Another sharp crack sounded and Mia took to the air circling around Guin. Down the beach another group of three penguins were using the same technique. "Do you know them?" Mia asked gliding back down.

"That sounds like a good idea!" Guin chirruped and turned his head to scan the other penguins. "I can't say that I do." He straightened up and tilted his head.

"Well they aren't bothering us." She said. Mia kept drinking. Suddenly a red thing walked by her and she jumped out of the way. It was a crab. It side walked around her snapping irritably. "Well excuse you!" The little bird said insulted.

"Yes! Excuse you! Mr-" Guin eyed the small crab hungrily. He lunged for it (in an extremely ungraceful way) and snatched it in his beak. Of course he ripped it apart and ate it. (Though I do not care to describe the gruesome scene if cracking shell and...oh I almost did, whoops!) "mr. Delicious!"

Mia watched her friend devour the crab. "Oh....umm.." She skirted back a bit. "I'm just....gonna wait....you know.....over there...yea." Mia flew low back in the direction of the other penguins. Stopping before she reached them and turning back to Guin. She didn't hear them until they were right on her tail. Someone yanked at her tail feathers. Mia squeaked in surprise and tried to take off. She didn't didn't get far before she was pulled back down to the ground. She hit the sand beak forts wings sprawled. Looking up she saw that these penguins were different than Guin. Sitting up again she went to shout for Guin but one penguin head-butted her towards the surf. *"Heya pretty birdie! Whatcha doin way out here? This reef is for swimming fowl only. Can you swim?"* Mia jumped up shaking sand from her feathers. "Umm. No, I fly. That's kinda why I have feathers." The little stellar jay said being forced backwards. Her feet hit wet sand and it was the warning. She jumped up again trying to get momentum but the leader of the penguins caught her foot. *"Hold up there darling. I guess you need swimming lessons if you can swim."* Mia struggled harder. "No! No thanks! I'm good!" She shouted. "Guin! Help!" The penguin below her jerked his head and sent her careening backwards into the ocean. -Splash-

Guin shrugged nonchalantly. He didn't care about what others thought of his eating habits. He was a carnivore. He devoured fish and small crabs, shrimp even. Occasionally he would become an omnivore, like when he had drank done coconut milk. He turned to scavenge the beach while his friend flew. She could take care if herself. Only when she heard her wailing chirp did he turn. "Mia?" He noticed the group of Penguins harassing her. When they bullied her into the waves he felt anger rush through him. "MIA!" He roared as best a penguin could. He waddled forward as fast a pace he could, somehow, Guin managed to look intimidating and a few of the other penguins scattered. As he reached the group he pecked at the viciously and slapped them away with his flippers. With that he dive into the shallow surf, desperately trying to find his blue feathered friend.

Mia flailed in the water desperately. Most birds weren't supposed to swim! Head above the surf she saw Guin angrily chasing some of the penguins. Before she could call out she got tackled by a wave. She tumbled head over feet up the sand. She stopped for one brief moment before getting pulled back out. She tried to fly, only managing to lift herself just above the waves for a second. "He-l-p?!"

Guin searched from below. He had learned this technique from watching the local hammerhead reef sharks. The sun glides through the water, thus creating a silhouette of whatever was above. Guin squired until he saw a flailing object, that had to be Mia. He shot upwards, gliding gracefully upwards, he was a feathered torpedo. He soon saw the blue hue of her feathers, and leveled out, just below her. His black back rise above the waves directly underneath her.

Mia felt something rise up under her and she realized it was Guin. Gasping she relaxed and let her wingtips touch the water on either side. "Thanks." She squeaked. She looked at Guin upside down. "I don't think I want to swim anymore."

Guin let out a nervous laugh. "That's okay, let's get you back to dry land," then he added. "On the OTHER side of the island. Then once you have dried up enough to fly, we can go to the mainland. I haven't been there in, forever!"

Mia nodded. She had no other choice other than to let Guin do all the work. They neared the other side of the island at a decent pace. Mia was impressed. She rolled over and sat up on Guin's back and folded her blue wings around her. The feathers on her head were flattened down. Still soaked.

Guin slid onto the wet sand and pushed himself onto drier earth. "You can walk now." He said to her and stood.
