Wishful Waddling

[Shrike]

Guin waddled onto shore, his slim figure stark against the white sand. Shell fragment poked at his webbed feet, but the penguin didn't mind. He tilted his head to the sky to look for his new friend Mia.

[kryll]

Mia dived in wincing at the sun glaring off the sand. She chirped a happy tune as she landed beside Guin. She felt tiny compared to him but she didn't mind. The sand skitted away from her small feet as she hopped about full of boundless energy.

[Shrike]

The deep black under Guins eyes helped peel off the glare. He grinned as best a bird could and said, "watch this! I guarantee you will laugh!" With that, he set out. He waddled and wobbled his head bobbing.

[kryll]

Mia stared trying to figure out what Guin was doing. But she was cut off as bouts of laughter shook the little bird. "How....how on earth is that a proper way to walk?" Mia hopped after him trying to keep up. "Your much more fluid in the water." She fluttered a bit to catch up.

[Shrike]

"I am walking correctly!" He protested with a gleam in his dark eyes. "Come on to the forest!" He waddled faster and bobbed into the brush.

[kryll]

Mia just giggled as she chased him into the forest. It was cooler here, under the trees and tropical bushes. "You live out here?" She asked as she skirted sideways to avoid some spiky leaves of an odd tropical plant. She jumped over vines and rocks, eagerly traversing the landscape as traveled beside Guin.

[Shrike]

Guin nodded. "Yes I have a nest in those rocks." He flicked a flipper towards a gathering of boulders near the treeline. The forest was deep green and spattered with red and yellow flowers.

[kryll]

Mia took flight circling Guin's head. She saw the rocks he mentioned from a distance. "Your a strange bird." She told him. "You swim, and walk lop-sided, and nest in rocks. What kind of funny bird are you?" Mia landed once again and tilted her head.

[Shrike]

"A Penguin! Duh!" He squawked. The slim penguin laughed. The forest enveloped them in green. He sighed contentedly. "Let's go find a coconut."

[kryll]

Mia perched lightly on her friends head. Leaning over to look in his eyes. "What's a coconut?" She asked. She took off again and did flips between the hanging vines before landing on one and letting it swing beneath her. She hadn't really ever been anywhere near the reef before. It was all fascinating.

[Shrike]

"You don't know?" He laughed. "We'll, you're in for a surprise then!" Guin waddled deeper into the forest, balms rising above his head.

[kryll]

"Never been out here before." She said flitting ahead. "What kind of surprise? Good? Funny? Strange?" Mia darted around the trees and landed lightly back where Guin was. She picked up a shiny pebble in her beak and tossed it away watching how far she could throw.

[kryll]

(*boops*)

[Shrike]

The penguin waddled over to a palm, not looking up into the trees, but down around it. Guin laughed as he spotted one. "See this?" He pointed to a round, brown furry thing. A coconut.

[kryll]

Mia landed on top of the object he was speaking about. It was large, almost bigger than her. "Is this a coconut?" She asked. She pecked it lightly with her beak. A light thud resonated in it. Mia chirped in glee as she pecked it again. This strange thing could make music!
