Name: Kayde
Age: 6 1/2 years
Gender: Male
Breed: Great Blue Heron
Category: Wading Bird
Eye Color: Deep Golden Yellow
Feather Color: Silvery-blue with a few black and a few white feathers. He also has a few orange-yellow feathers on his chest, though they aren't usually visible.
Physical Build: Tall and thin, scrawny by most definitions, feathers tend to ride a bit askew on his body for a sort of scrappy look. His legs are log and thin, which occasionally leads to coordination issues, and his thin bones are susceptible to damage more than the stronger birds-- like the birds of prey.
Picture: Here
Personality: Kayde is a highly intelligent, cautious, quiet, and wise bird. His mind tends to wander quite a bit, leading to the old bird having a rather peculiar aura about himself. He knows many stories, however, and is willing to tell them to the younger birds, or for that matter any birds, that will listen to him. When he isn't telling stories, Kayde is very quiet and withdrawn, preferring to spend his time "daydreaming" at his favorite perch by the small pond where his home is. He often seems a bit...detached from the world around him, but he can usually focus on something when it comes down to it. Kayde relies more on experience when facing a situation, and when he combines that with his large imagination, he can often quickly come up with ways to solve problems.
History: Kayde used to be an extremely bold and outgoing extrovert; and he was a nomad, a traveller who never liked to spend too much time in one place. As a result, he's been all over the Isle of Starlet, and been on a great series of adventures. However, his carefree life ended when an unspoken catastrophe occurred, bringing him to be who and where he is now at his secluded home somewhere between the mountains and the swamp. He generally refuses to speak of how he came to be there, and would rather tell of the adventures that took place in his glorious life before.
Lineage: Meh
Extra Comments: Kayde's mother, Keira, was killed by a mountain lion shortly after he and his siblings hatched. His father had apparently disappeared years before, supposedly went crazy and is rumored to have drowned himself in the sea. His only sibling, Jera, flew away and he hasn't seen her since. The rest of Kayde's relatives are either deceased or unknown to him.

The little hawk's bright amber eyes looked up at Kayde, gleaming with curiosity in the light of the brightly shining moon overhead. Kayde and the small bird of prey were perched together in the higher branches of an oak tree, its limbs gently swaying the pair back and forth in the dark atmosphere. A zephyr blew by, gently caressing Kayde's feathers with its cool touch. The hawk grinned at Kayde, cocking his head slightly to the side as he spoke. The apprentice's voice quivered with excitement as the words left his beak, his breath coming out as wisps of steam on the cold night.
"Tell me about the badger again Kayde," said the hawk, ruffling his bright golden feathers and just as quickly smoothing them back down again to block out the breeze. Kayde grinned at the small apprentice that stood before him, looking up at the big heron with his glittering, excited eyes. Kayde chuckled and clacked his beak a few times, his mind conjuring up the old story from his youth. He closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them again, one eyebrow raised and staring off into...who knows where.
"You sure you want to hear about that story Shrea?" he asked in a teasing, detached voice. "That one might be a little too scary for a young hawk like you." Shrea puffed out his chest determinedly at the statement, his tawny feathers gleaming in the moonlight.
"I've nearly reached my second year," he replied indignantly, jokingly nudging the heron's chest with his head. Kade chuckled again, and the hawk nudged him a second time. "C'mon Kayde, pleeeeeease?" Shrea pleaded, his eyes shining with laughter and excitement. Kayde sighed exaggeratedly, lifting a wing to his forehead. A smile played on the corners of his beak.
"My my you never give up do you?" he asked, shaking his head. Shrea nodded, not saying a word as he knew that he was soon to get his wish. Kayde sighed again. "Well, if you must insist, and because you're my favorite apprentice, then I suppose I ought to oblige." Shrea grinned, but didn't speak as he knew that Kayde would tell him that he was ruining the story if he did.
"Well, three or four years ago..."
