( Shrike) The trees were too big. They were too creepy. They seemed to groan. In those groans, Rinzi could sware that she heard whispered words. She could almost see their growth, it was so fast. Rinzi's eyes were careful to try and pick up every movement. There could be danger around every turn. After that warning from the old Bald Eagle, Rinzi was more nervous than she'd usuallt be. She couldn't just ignore his warning. If he was taking the trouble to warn them, it'd be healthier for them if they listened. Yet here they were flying through the maze. Their quest wasn't over until they reached the tree. Rinzi was determined to gain a Wisdom and she was sure Cirus was just as focused of the goal as she was.

Cirus' dark eyes were focused on Rinzi. Her graceful, agile movements. The smoothness of her reddish brown feathers as the air passed over them. Her alert hazel eyes. He followed her movements, his body twisting and spiraling, he often had to turn vertically to get through tight places. So many predators could be awaiting. He had heard of monkeys and large insects, tree scorpions and spiders. Martens and weasels. Lizards, snakes. He shivered at the idea if their toothy jaws that grinned from the darkness.

The darkness seemed to darken even further as Rinzi navigated through the tangled maze. Rinzi could barely see anything. She slowed her wing beats as she landed on what looked to be a stable branch. She scanned around for Cirus, hoping he hadn't fallen behind as the shadows deepened. After a glimpse of his white feathers though the sticks, Rinzi turned her head upward to gaze at the leafy canopy above. She hoped to get a flash of the sky. She couldn't tell whether it was night or day. The tiredness of her wings could be an indicator but because of all the fancy maneuvers, Rinzi couldn't rely on that. For all she knew, they could've been only traveling through the maze for an hour. There was nothing to see but green in the blanket of leaves that covered the sky. Maybe the darkening shadows told that night had arrived or maybe it just spoke of how deep they were in this maze.

Cirus caught up quickly and landed on the branch beside her. He chirped slightly as it creaked. But the branch didnt move anymore than tge length of a bugs-leg. The white gyr falcon bobbed his head and looked up as well. He inferred that she was wondering what time of day it was, how he inferred was that he was wondering the same thing too. "want to fly into the canopy so we can see if its day or night?" He asked her without shifting his gaze from the canopy.

"I don't know if we can. It seems thicker up there," Rinzi sighed, "Maybe we should just get some sleep." The kestrel tucked her head under her wing and couched lower onto the branch. It wasn't the most comfortable sleeping place but nowhere else could be better.

"Alright. But when I wake im checking." The snowy white gyr falcon said and tucked his head under his wing. As he stopped moving, the cold crept under her feathers. He shivered and edged his way closer to the pretty kestrel who was called Rinzi. He kept scooting until he felt his wing brushed hers. And then he stopped. If she didnt want to be near him, she would scoot away. If she wanted what he wanted, she would scoot closer.
It seemed to him like he was more focused on Rinzi, than the quest.

Rinzi:
"Fine with me," Rinzi yawned. Her sharp yellow beak gaped as exhaustion made her eyelids droop. Before sleep overtook her, Rinzi felt feathers touch her wing. Cirus's warm body was centimeters away. Rinizi watched him through half-closed hazel eyes as she forced herself to think for a second. Cirus had followed her on this crazy quest and kept with her through the danger. Something stirred in Rinzi as Cirus started to become more than a friend. Much more. Rinzi took step closer to Cirus. She relaxed the tension from her aching muscles as she enjoyed the feeling of Cirus's white feathers against her brown ones. She let out a breath that she hadn't realized she was holding as sleep drifted over her.
The dream flooded her with joy. Rinzi was flying though a clear blue sky. Time had no meaning as she glided. There was no ground, just the air around her. Rinzi screeched with delight as she spiraled though the light blue emptiness. She hadn't realized how restricting the ground and trees felt. The air here was clear and Rinzi could dive down as fast as she wished without the risk and smashing against the unforgiving earth. But as Rinzi continued to fly through the openness without feeling any effects of exhaustion, a hole seemed to open in her. Something was wrong. She was alone and nothing or nobody was there. Rinzi suddenly wanted to feel something beneath her talons, but no land appeared. A single cloud seemed to float above her. Rinzi flapped desperately towards the only difference in the dreamscape. The cloud turned out not to be a cloud at all. It was Cirus. Rinzi opened her beak in a bird's attempt at a smile as she sped towards the gyrfalcon. She slowly and clutched his larger talons in hers. His blue eyes beamed at her as the dream faded. The stifling maze returned as Rinzi opened her eyes.
(I love rping dreams! They're always so much fun. You can explore the inner workings of your character's mind or foreshadow something or just have fun XD.)

Everything was black, darkness, endless oblivion...no, something was there. Two yellow dots in the distance. Or, were they just small and right in front of him? Cirus didnt know, he couldn't move. Then the dots got bigger, and were joined by another pair, and another. Yellow orbs blinked open around him, soon accompanied by glistening white, shark toothed, Cheshire grins. The gyr falcon felt his heart beating rapidly in his feathery chest, and suddenly, like he was freed if an earthy tether he shot upwards, as he flew Stars began to shine, the black earth underneath him fell away, the slavering jaws if earthly daemons snapping shut far below him. He was free. Wasn't he? But then he knocked into something, a branch, a huge leaf. Those weren't stars, they were pinpoints of dsylight shining through the gaps in the canopy. He was still trapped, trapped in the great oaks, alone.
Cirus woke up with a start, talons pricking the hard bark underneath him. He looked to Rinzi and sighed. "I'll be back in a minute." and then he took off upwards to see the sky.
