Though no snow lay on the mountain top, the wind and cold temperature helped Cirus feel more at home and at peace. The ivory colored bird blended in wonderfully with the mists flowing around his body, his wings were angled into a dive as he rocketed towards the summit.

Rinzi beat her wings furiously as she rose towards the highest peak of the range. She enjoyed. The exhileration of sailing level with Condor Mt. The whole islet was sprawled before her like map. She hovered there for a moment struggling to keep her balance in the high winds of the mountain. They shifted restlessly in attempts to blow her from the air. Suddenly a white colored blur sped past her, inches from Rinzi's beak. She squawked in surprise.

As the falcon shot downward he didn't notice the smaller falcon struggling to fly steadily in the vicious wind. Her squawk was drowned out by the howling winds. Cirus twisted in the air and opened his wings and landed on a straggly, gnarled branch. He picked at his feathers before turning his head upwards to look at what had happened to the kestrel. The wind was quieter on the summit, so he could hear the sounds of the valley below.

Rinzi lost her inflight balance. The winds from the falcon's passing made her wobble. This slight lapse of balance would be nothing near the ground. but up beside the clouds, the wind was fiercer. The slightest mistake would allow it to take control. Rinzi's wobble gave the wind the control it seeked. It caught her wing and viciously wrenched it out of the socket. Rinzi's plummeted with her good wing flapping for control and her dislocated wing trailing in shock from the sudden pain.

Cirus watched the bird struggle and out snapped his wings. The Kestrel was only slightly smaller than him, he could attempt to carry her, but that would make her obvious injury worse. He scoped the sky and shot into the air. The wind caught his silvery wings and in no time he was free falling next to her. He didn't bother wasting his breath talking and instead wrapped his dings around the falcons body and they fell down faster. He dug his claws into themselves with fear. He was so scared he contemplated letting her fall to her death. But he remembered his cowardice of his youth and closed his eyes.

Rinzi watched as a falcon took flight and raced towards her. A flash of hope flickered in her. It disappeared quickly as the falcon got closer. He was too small to stop her fall without injuring her. His wings were soon wrapped around her. The wind's beastal howling died enough that's its control on her disappeared. Rinzi streched her dislocated wing out in front of her. Every movement sent pain through her. She force the wing to a position behind her. Finally, she raised the wing above her head. She heard her wing click back into place. She spread her wings, forcing the falcon away, and caught the wind under her wings. She leveled her position as her balance was restored.

Cirus shrieked as he was detached and spread his wings wide as the ground rushed up to meet him. He crash landed and skidded across the plateau. Uninsured he stood up and cocked his head. He scanned the ground for the kestrel, then the sky.

Rinzi was inches from the ground by the time she was level. She slowed her flight and landed. She turned looking for the falcon. She soon spotted him. He looked alright but she decided to make sure. She flapped over to him and asked, "You ok?" Her voice was soft despite the fact that her breathing was rapid.

Cirus breathed in deeply before coughing out, "I should ask you the same question, you took quite the tumble out there." The falcon shook out his feathers and hopped from one talon to the other nervously. Adrenaline pumped through his blood. His hooked beak was chattering with excess energy.

" I was able to pull myself out of that crazy dive," she responded. Rinzi neglected to mention her sore wing.

"Oh." Cirus shook again. "Ok." He shrugged and spread his wings, ready to take flight once more.

"I-I try." Cirus stuttered. "My names Cirus by the way." He put his wings down.

"Good name for a kestrel like you." Cirus chuckled as he settled down into the frosty pebbles, his feathers ruffled.
